Mullein has been used medicinally since ancient times. Its use and popularity continues. It is a member of the snapdragon family. The leaves, flowers and roots of the mullein plant are used medicinally for the treatment of various inflammatory diseases, diarrhea, asthma, coughs and other lung related ailments. The oil made from the flowers of the mullein plant help pain and inflammation associated with earaches. It can also help fight influenza, herpes viruses and some bacteria that cause respiratory infections. Traditional uses include bruises, burns, hemorrhoids and gout.

Mullein leaves have been applied topically to soften and protect the skin.

Directions

Steep 1-3 tsp of in a cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes depending on desired strength. It can also be applied topically.
